Claude Code Models and Effort Levels: Explained Simply
Model selection and effort level solve different problems. The model controls Claude’s underlying capability; the effort level controls how much work Claude does before responding.

Ever wished you could have specialized AI assistants for your exact tech stack? Well, now you can!
I’ve just launched Sub-Agents — a CLI tool that brings specialized AI agents to Claude Code based on your project’s technology stack, with Serena integration for semantic code analysis and optimized token usage.

Smart Project Detection + Serena Integration: Drop into any codebase and get AI agents tailored to what you’re actually building, with semantic understanding of your code relationships which optimize the token usage and improve performance
Next.js project? Get a Next.js specialist who understands your component structure
Django backend? Get a Django expert with full context of your models and views
DevOps pipeline? Get Kubernetes and Docker specialists with project-specific insights
Zero Setup Friction: Just run npx sub-agents init and you’re ready to go — no global installations needed!
We’ve all been there — asking Claude about Django when it’s thinking generically, or needing Next.js help but getting generic React advice. Sub-Agents gives you specialists who know the exact frameworks, tools, and patterns you’re working with.
Serena Integration: Optional semantic code analysis for even better context
Project-Specific: Each project gets its own agent setup
Custom Agents: Create your own specialized agents
Git-Friendly: Agents can be version controlled with your project
Try it out:
npx sub-agents init --interactiveThis has already transformed how I work with AI in development. Instead of generic responses, I get targeted advice from specialists who understand my exact tech stack.
Would love to hear your thoughts! Have you tried specialized AI agents in your workflow?

Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5 were temporarily suspended after the US government applied export controls on June 12, requiring Anthropic to restrict access to foreign nationals. Because Anthropic says it had no reliable way to verify nationality in real time, it suspended both models for all users. Those controls were lifted on June 30, and Fable 5 was restored globally starting July 1 across Claude Platform, Claude.ai, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork.

Anthropic released Claude Opus 4.8 on May 28, 2026 — a sharper, more honest upgrade to Opus 4.7 at the same price. Here's a clear breakdown of every new feature, capability, and how it compares to the previous model.
